P365 takedown lever won't go down.

The P322 doesn’t break down like a normal SIG Sauer handgun. The field stripping procedure is as follows: Unload and clear the pistol. Rotate the takedown lever counterclockwise 90° (left) Pull the slide back and then up to unhook it from the frame. Rotate the takedown lever 90° counterclockwise.I hate the “Gas Pedal” takedown lever. I’m sure from a standpoint of functionality it is reasonable, but it is SO UNBELIEVABLY UGLY. I see people post these otherwise BEAUTIFUL P320s, with these god-awful growths on the side of the frame, and it just really bothers me. I mean to each his own, I guess. Obviously a lot of people like them ...The mag is out and the slide is locked back but the damn takedown lever will not go to 6 o'clock position no matter how hard I force it. My thumb is bleeding at this point lol. Might not be the same, but for a while the 320s needed to push the barrel down or back slightly to allow the lever to drop. This fixed it. If I use my left thumb to push the takedown lever to 6:30-7, then I can pull the slide back to remove it. if I don’t hold the takedown lever forward, the slide stays locked. I can alternatively push the slide lock button down and remove the slide. I was just trying to understand why the slide won’t go back to release the slide lock.

It's like it's own trigger finger actually pulling the sear down. Unlike the 320 FCU, the P365 is less "user friendly" about having all the parts captured to keep them in place.

This is a very common issue caused by fiddling with the FCU and leaving one of several candidate pieces out of position. More often than not the Takedown Safety Lever is the culprit. It could also be the slide catch lever spring, but first you need to get the slide off to tell. Look at post #26 in this thread.

SecondSigUser. The brand new P320s can have very stiff take down levers. They usually, not all the time, but usually, get easier to work with as you manipulate the handgun, you know, kind of break it in, unloaded, of course. Make sure you drop the magazine first, per the Owner's Manual.

I said slide lock, not the release. Sounds like a misalignment. Flip up the slide lock and try to man-handle it off by moving it back and forth until it gives, just be careful not to bend it sideways. This requires the guide rod to protrude at the muzzle by about 3/16" or the difference between flat up and flat forward. If the guide rod is stuck at the muzzle the slide will stop about where your pic shows. Most often it is the striker hanging on the sear. Try not just swinging the take down lever but actually putting pressure on it past the 7 o'clock and holding that while you pull the slide forward and off. This will pull the sear down and let the slide come off. Sig Classic Line Armorer. Reply.
